La artista mexicana Paola Delfín (Ciudad de México, 1989) presenta su primera exposición en Barcelona bajo el título «Raíces”, una marcha atrás al origen de la vida, como un milagro natural que se encuentra conectado con la tierra.
«Existen raíces axonomorfas que viajan por lagos, valles, praderas, montañas, bosques, nubes y mareas, así como otras ramificadas y tuberosas, que más bien acumulan sustancias de reserva, sin importar su tipo o tamaño. Todas ellas siempre van más allá de los confines de la libertad y se ciñen a lo más profundo de su espíritu.»
La obra de Paola parte de la ilustración y mezcla formas orgánicas y respira femineidad, a través de personajes que invaden paredes, papel, tela y materiales inusuales.
La exposición, al igual que cada una de las obras que la comprenden, es una historia con múltiples caminos, diversos troncos que dan sostén a ramajes y hojas que tiñen el pasado, el presente y aquellos recuerdos que se vuelven los únicos cimientos a los que agarrarse para no perder el raigón.
“Raíces” invita a retomar ese lenguaje perdido, donde por más gruesa que sea la rama principal, y por más compleja y abstracta que parezca, es la unidad donde los elementos de la vida encuentran su sustento. Y es aquí donde celebran su evolución y nos permiten crecer de manera imprevisible, caótica y salvaje, con la suficiente fuerza y profundidad como para enseñarnos a esculpir nuestra propia existencia.

Mexican artist Paola Delfín (Mexico City, 1989) presents his first solo show in Barcelona under the title “Raíces”, a step backwards to the origin of life, seen as a natural miracle that is connected to the earth.
«There are tap roots that travel through lakes, valleys, meadows, mountains, forests, clouds and tides, as well as other branched and tuberous, rather accumulate reserve substances, regardless its type or size. All of them always go beyond the confines of freedom and adhere themselves to the depths of the spirit.»
Paola’s work starts from illustration, then get mixed with organic forms and breathes femininity, through characters who invade walls, paper, cloth and unusual materials.
The exhibition, like each of the pieces that comprise it, is a single story with multiple paths, various stems that give support to branches and leaves that stain the past, the present and those memories that become the only foundation to hold tight and sticked from the stump.
«Raíces» invites us to recuperate this forgotten language, does not matter how thicker is the main branch and how complex and abstract it looks like; is the drive where all elements of life find their origin. And this is where all those elements celebrate their evolution and allow us to grow in an unpredictable, chaotic and wild way, but strengthened and deep enough to teach us how to sculpt and to carve our own existence.
