ENRIC SANT «VIAJE AL PRESENTE» En Mtn Gallery Barcelona.

 

 

«Viaje al presente» es el título de la primera exposición del joven artista Enric Sant en Montana Gallery Barcelona, presentando una muestra de trabajos que le confirman como una de las mas firmes promesas artísticas de nuestro país.

Las obras que produce Enric Sant no son imágenes amables, ya que no es esa la sensación que el artista busca para el espectador que observa su aparatoso despliegue de formas retorcidas, mas bien todo lo contrario.

Su obra radica en dos puntos fundamentales: Lo grotesco, omnipresente,  donde las formas humanas y orgánicas se deforman y crecen incontrolablemente, creando personajes desproporcionados que recuerdan a la obsesión con el cuerpo humano del director David Cronemberg. No se sabe si sus personajes nacieron así, o van desarrollando sus deformidades de una manera enfermiza. En todo caso la sensación de ser testigo de algo malsano es constante.

El otro punto clave de su obra es lo cotidiano. Sobre todo en sus dibujos, Enric plantea un choque brutal entre situaciones perfectamente verosímiles, como ir sentado en el metro, y la aparición de sus figuras deformes como protagonistas de la escena que está sucediendo, sin que suceda habitualmente nada espectacular, mas allá de lo que normalmente suele suceder en la realidad. De esta manera, el artista utiliza esa particular atmósfera para crear retratos expresionistas del día a día, sugiriendo la idea de enfermedad en la sociedad, en nuestro estilo de vida.

 

«Viaje al presente/Journey to the Present» is the title of the first exhibition of the young artist Enric Sant in Montana Gallery Barcelona, ​​presenting a collection of artworks that confirms him as one of the most notable artistic  promises of our country. 

The artwork produced by Enric Sant isn’t friendly, as it’s not the feeling that the artist wants for the viewer, who watches his ostentatious display of twisted shapes. His intentions are just the opposite

His work lies in two fundamental points: The grotesque, omnipresent, where human and organic shapes deform and grow uncontrollably, creating disproportionated characters that resembles the obsession with the human body from cinema director David Cronenberg. It is not known if their characters were born like this, or are developing their deformities in a sick way. The feeling of witnessing something unhealthy is constant.

The other key point of his work is the day-to-day. Especially in his drawings, Enric shows a brutal clash between perfectly plausible situations, like sitting on the subway, and the appearance of deformed figures as protagonists of the scene that is happening, that usually happens without anything spectacular, beyond what normally happens in reality. Thus, the artist uses expressionist portraits of everyday’s life to create a special atmosphere, suggesting the idea of ​​disease in society, and in our lifestyle.
