Last Thursday, 3rd of July, the opening event of the collective exhibition «Barroco Mestizo» took place in Montana Gallery Barcelona, in which the participating artists Inti (Chile), Jaz (Argentina), Saner (Mexico) and Decertor (Peru) presented a collection of works whose theme was inspired by an ancient tradition of the colonial period in Latin America. Native artists were chosen to make exact copies of some famous spanish images, resulting in a non-literal final copy, really influenced by the author´s own culture and imaginary. Using this original story, the main concept of the exhibition plays with the cultural link between Spain and the Latin American countries, presenting images based on a recognizable Spanish tradition and transformed into something completely different and surprising.
Exhibition from 04 July to 30 August 2014.
