«Barroco Mestizo» Es el título de la primera exhibición colectiva protagonizada por cuatro artistas latinoamericanos en Montana Gallery Barcelona. Inti (Chile), Jaz (Argentina), Saner (Mexico) y Decertor (Perú) presentarán el próximo 4 de Julio una exposición de obras creadas con un concepto común extraído de una carta del siglo XVI.
En dicha carta, fechada en Diciembre de 1583, se expone una vieja costumbre por la que se encargaba a artistas mestizos y de los pueblos originarios la representación de clásicos grabados europeos, prohibiendo totalmente cualquier tipo de creatividad. El resultado, obviamente, solía escaparse de la imagen original, impregnándose de la personalidad de sus creadores. Hoy, y ya de vuelta al siglo XXI, los cuatro artistas tras «Barroco Mestizo» retomarán dicha tradición dejando que sus estilos e influencias sean los que moldeén las imágenes originales, creando así las obras que inundarán las paredes de Montana Gallery.

«Barroco Mestizo» is the title of the first collective exhibition by four Latin American artists in Montana Gallery Barcelona. Inti (Chile), Jaz (Argentina), Saner (Mexico) and Decertor (Peru) presents next July 4th a collection of artworks created around a main concept, based on a letter from the XVI century.
This letter, dated December 1583, mentions an old tradition whereby mestizos and indigenous artists were recruited to represent some European classical prints, totally prohibiting any kind of creativity. The result, of course, used to escape from the original image, soaking up the personality of their creators. Today, back to the XXI century, the four artists behind «Barroco Mestizo» resume that tradition letting their styles and influences to recreate he original images, making new artworks that will be exhibited on the walls of Montana Gallery.
